This well-known classic conifer is also referred to as the Pencil Pine. Pencil pines are a very adaptable narrow big tree with thick dark blue-green foliage that forms in a tight upright columnar habit. It is ideal for lining fences, driveways, walkways, and feature walls. They can be cultivated in big pots as well. Low maintenance and resistant to frost. During heat waves and dry spells, give plants extra deep waterings and keep them well mulched. For a hedge, space your plants 1 m apart; for an avenue, space them 4–7 m apart. When fully grown, pencil pines are 15 meters tall and 1 metre wide.
